Rockford Illinois and how you can get involved to stop it
Hello and Happy Thursday to everyone! The weekend is almost here!
So I like to start off with their are currently talks of a data center coming to Rockford by a company named Monarch Energy that is finalizing a deal to invest $12 Billion across 1,100 acres of land around the Rockford Airport area since that is the zoning area for industrial areas. Lots of people are unhappy about it because 1: it raises the electric prices for the residents in the city because of the supply/demand model and 2: the amount of water that is needed to cool the equipment.
Now their is a group here based in Rockford called No Data Centers Northern IL and the group is currently only on Facebook(they should get on substack :) You can find them by clicking here. The group is ran by 3 administrators named Audreyanna Mera Meg Larson-Freeman and Taylor Arielle.
If you have the time and energy to help stop the data center coming to Rockford, join the group and see what you can do to contribute. I am sure they have room for everyone no matter how small or big you can participate.
